Nobody actually tagged me in this one, but when I saw Leelynn from Sometimes Leelynn Reads do it I thought it looked fun! This was originally created by Marisa from littlespider9 on Youtube, so make sure you also go give their video some love! Now, without further ado, onto the questions!

A really hyped book you’re not interested in reading?
When I first started to get into YA, the original Shatter Me trilogy was one of the first series I binged and absolutely loved. A couple years ago I tried to reread them and could barely get through the first book. I’m a little curious to know where the series is going, but not near enough to actually find out by reading Defy Me.

A series you won’t start/won’t be finishing?
I am so salty about the Red Queen series….. The first book was SO GOOD. It was exciting and I loved Mare! But then book two, Glass Sword, came along and ruined everything. Oh, god, I hated it more than I had hated anything in a long time. It just ruined everything for me and I have absolutely no interest in giving the rest of the series a chance.

A classic that you’re just not interested in?
Anything by Jane Austen. I almost feel obligated to read her books, but I’ve tried so many times and just cannot get into any of them. I used to read a ton of classics when I was younger (and homeschooled), but they are just absolutely not for me anymore.

Any genres you never read?
Fantasy and historical fiction – they just aren’t my jam. Every so often I’ll try, but 95% of the time I find myself bored and overwhelmed. I’ll be trying again with The Merciful Crow soon, but that will probably fill my fantasy quota for the year.

A book on your shelves you’ll probably never actually read?
I loved The Lunar Chronicles and am really looking forward to reading the Renegades series, but Heartless just doesn’t interest me. I’ve grabbed it from my shelf a few times thinking that I would finally start it, but for some reason I get bored before even opening it up. I don’t plan on getting rid of the book any time soon so maybe some day it will get read but I’m not holding my breath.
Is there a book you own that you’ll probably never read? Let me know in the comments!

You aren’t missing anything by finishing the RQ series. I had the whole series signed because it was so hyped, but each book was one disappointment after another.

Ah, I hate it when I get books signed before I read them and end up not enjoying them. So sorry that happened with this series! But I’m glad to hear that I’m not missing anything.

I had to read Pride and Prejudice in high school and it was one of the worst books I’ve ever read. I think I just skimmed it because it just didn’t work for me. Definitely feel similar to how you do with Heartless as well. The Lunar Chronicles was such a cool idea and one that I stuck with even when it got a little rough. With Heartless though, I was pumped because I liked TLC and the baking aspect interested me but each time I think about maybe reading it, I just don’t feel it.

I was homeschooled for most of my school career and had to read a Jane Austen book, but I think it was Sense and Sensibility. I’m pretty sure I skimmed most of it, too! I didn’t realize Heartless had baking in it! That actually kind of makes me want to give it a try….

Oohh! I feel you about Red Queen! I don’t plan on reading the Red Queen either. In fact, the first book was already such a disappoint for me.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that feels this way!

I agree with you about all of these books! Except for fantasy and historical fiction, they are two of my favourite genres to read. I have War and Peace on my shelves that I started reading a year ago but I don’t think I’ll ever actually finish it ๐

War and Peace is such an intimidating book! I tried to read Les Miserables in high school and that one intimidated me too.

Not reading Defy Me is probably a good move. The series is just going so downhill into fantiction land omg. Also same about Red Queen. Never made it past the first book and probably wonโt
