Rapid Fire Book Tag

It’s Friday and oh I am so thankful! My birthday is on Tuesday so I’m hoping it won’t be too hot this weekend to take a trip to the zoo. For now, though, here’s the Rapid Fire Book Tag!

This was originally created by GirlReading over on YouTube. A huge thank you to the always wonderful Tate from bookishconstellations for “formally” tagging me in this! The goal is to answer these questions with the first thing that comes to mind. Tate timed herself and since I’m super competitive I’ll be doing the same because I have to beat her.

*Disclaimer: I’m watching Dance Moms while I try to complete this so I’m kind of sabotaging myself and if I don’t beat Tate I have nobody to blame but myself.*

E-Book or Physical Book?

Physical! They’re easier for me to read and hold my attention better. Though I do read a lot of eARCs through NetGalley.

Paperback or Hardback?

This might be an unpopular opinion but I’m going with hardback! I like the way they look on my shelf more than paperbacks and I like the weight of them when I read.

Online or In-Store Book Shopping?

In-store for sure. I want to be able to browse the books, pick them up, flip through them, and best decide what I want to buy.

Trilogies or Series?

Aren’t trilogies a series? I’m a little confused by this one. I guess I’ll go with a trilogy though because I know when it will end.

Heroes or Villains?

Hi, my name is Mari, and I’m the most Hufflepuffiest Hufflepuff you’ll ever meet in your life. Because of that I’m going with heroes.

A book you want everyone to read?

*throws Deposing Nathan at you and refuses to leave until you’ve read it*

Recommend an underrated book?

*again throws Deposing Nathan at you and refuses to leave until you’ve read it*

The last book you finished?

Oh, god, I can’t remember. I don’t think I’ve even finished a book in August yet and we’re already 9 days in…. Goodreads to the rescue to inform me that the last one I finished was The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware and I hated it.

The Last Book You Bought?

I’ve barely been buying books because money but I’m pretty sure the last one I bought was Imposters by Scott Westerfeld and it was so fucking good.

Weirdest Thing You’ve Used as a Bookmark?

I only ever use actual bookmarks or I dog ear the page. Sorry that I’m boring.

Used Books: Yes or No?

100% yes! They have so much character and I love giving them a new home.

Top Three Favorite Genres

I’m so bad at understanding what is considered a genre and what isn’t…. contemporary (which to me includes romance, realistic, mental health themes?), thrillers, aaaand poetry. Mostly I read contemporaries.

Borrow or Buy?

Buy! If I love a book I want to own it which makes borrowing things hard because I usually don’t want to spend money on something I’ve already read when I could get something I haven’t read instead.

Characters or Plot?

Characters! I don’t care how good the plot is, if the characters are crap I’ll hate it no matter what happens.

Long or Short Books?

Short! Long books stress me out and intimidate me.

Long or Short Chapters?

Short! They make me feel like I’m reading faster.

Name The First Three Books You Think Of…

Deposing Nathan by Zack Smedley, You’d Be Mine by Erin Hahn, and How it Feels to Float by Helena Fox

Books That Make You Laugh or Cry?

Make. Me. Cry. I live for the emotional and hard hitting books.

Our World or Fictional Worlds?

Our world! It’s okay if there are fictional places mixed in, but I prefer for it to mostly be based in our world.

Audiobooks: Yes or No?

Yes yes yes! They are so great! When I worked I would listen to audiobooks and I loved how much reading I was able to get done. I also love how they make reading more accessible because everybody should have the opportunity to enjoy books.

Do You Ever Judge a Book by its Cover?

Who doesn’t? I’ll buy a book just because it has a pretty cover. The last time this happened was with A Lite Too Bright by Samuel Miller and it ended up being such a good book.

Book to Movie or Book to TV Adaptations?

This one is hard but I think I’m going with TV. I love The 100, Pretty Little Liars, and Hilda. I’m just more of a TV person than movies in general though.

A Movie or TV-Show You Preferred to its Book?

TV show – Pretty Little Liars
Movie – Lord of the Rings

Series or Standalones?

I will choose a standalone over a series every single day.

i still love you though tate

I really want to do a special and fun post for my birthday on Tuesday but I have no clue what to do. If you have any ideas let me know in the comments!
