Stranger Things Readathon TBR

I am an expert at biting off more than I can chew so yes I am participating in the first ever Stranger Things readathon! It officially started yesterday and ends on the 17th and since I can’t think of anything better than combining Stranger Things with books I couldn’t say no. Plus, I haven’t done a readathon since July’s 24in48 so it was way past time for another.

There are five reading challenges to complete with this readathon:

  1. Group book: The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman
  2. Stranger Things is about a group of friends. Read a book featuring a core friend group.
  3. Eleven came into their lives and made an everlasting bond with the group. Get out of your comfort zone and buddy read a book with someone.
  4. In honor of Robin coming out as a lesbian, read a book with a f/f relationship.
  5. The show is dark, so read a book with black on the cover.

I read The Devouring Gray back in April so this will be a reread for me which I’m excited about! For the other challenges, here are the books I’m hoping to read this week:

Read a book featuring a core friend group!

I am so excited that I’m finally going to read When the Sky Fell on Splendor by Emily Henry! I got it soon after it released and just haven’t had time to get to it yet. After reading, and completely loving Hello Girls, I’m ready to read everything by Emiliy Henry. This one gave me Stranger Things vibes when I first bought it so it feels fitting to read it now.

Get out of your comfort zone and buddy read a book with someone!

Buddy reading is definitely something outside of my comfort zone. I’ve only done it once before but I’m ready to do it again with Brie! I sent her pictures of all my unread books (which is an embarrassing amount) and she chose Scythe by Neal Shusterman! I was needing to read that book this week anyway since it’s what y’all are forcing me to read so it couldn’t have worked out better.

Read a book with a f/f relationship!

I started reading The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth back in August and got 55% into it before I needed to set it aside. It is such an incredible book but it’s also very heavy. I was having a hard time dealing with the content and just needed a break. I’m feeling ready to finish it now though!

Read a book with black on the cover!

I’m kind of cheating with this one because I’m 69% into it already but The Tenth Girl by Sara Faring has been a struggle for me. I haven’t read any of it since September 29th and I just need some motivation to finish it. Honestly if I didn’t have a review copy I probably would just DNF this but I feel the need to finish it and that’s what I’m going to do!

  1. I’m not a fan of Stranger Things (just not my style) so I didn’t even hear about this readathon before your tweet asking for a buddy read haha. But it looks like you’ve got some good books on your list! I’m interested to hear your thoughts on The Tenth Girl, since that one I put on my TBR with some excitement

    1. I was honestly pretty skeptical about Stranger Things when I watched the first season but I’m very susceptible to FOMO so I had to give it a shot and was pleasantly surprised! And to me the show just gets better and better with each season. I’ll have a review of The Tenth Girl coming on Monday!
