Did I do a book tag just a few days ago? Yes, yes I did. But you know what? This is a busy week and I didn’t prepare my blog ahead of time like I should have so we’re doing another one!
Thank you to Grey from Use Your Words for tagging me in this! I tried to research who originally created the tag but I was unable to figure it out. Looks like this one has maybe been around for a while? If you have any leads please let me know down in the comments! I hate not giving credit where it’s due.
Inside flap/back of the book summaries: too much info or not enough?
It’s enough while also not being enough? I wish content warnings were included but as far as just the synopsis goes I’ve always found it to be enough.
Unless it’s one of those weird books that refuses to give you the synopsis and instead only shows your blurbs or trade reviews – in those cases that is not enough and literally tells me nothing.
New book! What form do you want it to be in? Be honest: audiobook, e-book, paperback, or hardcover?
I’d prefer hardback but a book is a book. I’ll take anything that’s readable. As long as it isn’t an audiobook just because those are really hard for me to get through at this point in my life. Although there was one point in my life where I was almost exclusively using audios!
Scribble while you read? Do you like to write in your books, take notes, make comments, or do you keep your books clean, clean, clean?
This really depends on the book. It’s rare that I mark in a book – really it only happens if it’s an absolute favorite that I’ve read numerous times already. When it does happen though I’ll mostly just highlight passages but every now and then I’ll make notes inside. One I’ve done this with is Twilight.
Does it matter to you whether the author is male or female when you’re deciding on a book? What if you’re unsure of the author’s gender?
No? I literally don’t pay attention to this at all. I just looked at my Goodreads and it seems like the majority of books I read are by women but I don’t do it intentionally.
Ever read ahead? Or have you ever read the last page way before you got there?
Nope. If you want to do this that’s fine but for me I don’t want to know what’s coming next or how the story is going to end. It’s too much chaotic energy for me.
Organized bookshelves or outrageous bookshelves?
In a perfect world I like them organized but they are outrageous right now. Elliott loves to go through them, take them off the shelves, line them up, stack them, “read” them… I hardly know where anything is but it’s actually okay. I love that he loves books so much and I never want my books to seem off limits. That would break my heart.
Have you ever bought a book based on the cover (alone)?
Yes! So many times! One of my favorite things to do is go to the bookstore with the goal of choosing one based off only the cover. The last time I did this I ended up with A Lite Too Bright by Samuel Miller and it was such a good book!
Take it outside to read, or stay in?
I adore the aesthetic of reading outside but I don’t understand how anybody does it. The wind is always blowing my hair and the pages around and the sun reflecting off the pages is painful and I always end up with a migraine. Figuring out how to read outside is one of my life goals.
And that’s it! I’m not going to tag anybody this time but if you want to do it you can totally say that I tagged you!
